Film Insurance

Film insurance refers to insuring the film against unforeseen incidents like Death, illness of an actor or occurrence of natural calamities or accidental damage leading to delays in the film schedule. It can also include coverage against accidents that damage equipment while shooting is in process.

It also covers Insured against its legal liability to pay Damages for third party civil claims arising out of Bodily Injury or Property Damage caused in the course of the Event by an Accident in the Premises where it is held and during the Policy Period.

What is Covered?

  • Cast & Crew Insurance
    This provides coverage against Accidental Death, Bodily Injury, Critical Illness of Cast & Crew during the Policy Period subject to Terms & Conditions in the Policy.
  • Props, Sets, Wardrobes & Equipments
    This provides coverage to Property damage (Props, Sets, Wardrobes & Equipments) due to fire and allied perils & burglary, Act of God peril, or accidental external damage while shooting is in process.
  • Film Negative
    This provides coverage to film stock(video tape stock, raw film stock, recorded video tape, negatives, exposed motion picture film, cutting copies, sound tracks, tapes, etc. as per policy wordings) from any external cause arising out of fire and allied perils including burglary, Act of God peril, Natural calamities or transit damage.
  • Extra Expenses: Some of the miscellaneous expenses that can be covered are:
    • Accidental Death of the named cast/technician as covered
    • Non-appearance of named cast/ technician on the schedule of shooting due to natural calamity or accident or critical illness.
    • Loss, damage, destruction of property, sets, wardrobes costumes equipments caused by the perils covered.
    • Accidental external damage to the negatives already exposed.
    • Fire & Allied Perils including Earthquake, Storm, Tempest, Typhoon, Flood & Inundation.
    • Death of Current Chief Minister where shooting is taking place, Death of Prime minister of Republic of India, Death of President of India.
    • Terrorism Cover India Only
  • Public Liability – Property & Personal
    This provides coverage for Damages due to third party civil claims arising out of Bodily Injury or Property Damage caused in the course of the Event by an Accident in the Premises where it is held and during the Policy Period.
  • Negative Film Insurance- Post Production
    This provides coverage to the insured for loss/damages to negatives due to fire and allied perils including burglary, Act of God peril, Natural calamities or accidental external damage. The coverage under this Section shall cease on the date on which a production print and/or duplicate tape has been completed or after the expiry of 3 days/7 days from the date of completion of shoot.
  • Personal Accident- Death & Disability
    This covers Death, Permanent Total Disablement & Injury due to an Accident incurred within the policy period. The Assured is indemnified to the Limit of the Sum Assured or the percentage of the Sum Assured as specified in the Policy Schedule, if Assured will sustain Accidental Bodily Injury during the Policy Period.
  • Cash in Transit
    The Policy will indemnify the Insured for the loss In Transit of money whilst carried by the Insured or its Employee, caused during the Policy Period by Robbery, theft or any other fortuitous event.
  • Extended Pre-Production Cast Insurance
    If any cast member is not able to participate in the shoot during the pre-production period, this insurance covers the expenses made to employ these people. Death, sickness and/or kidnap of the designated person falls under the risks associated with this insurance type.

What is not covered?

  • Un-insured Event Exclusion.
  • Consequential Loss.
  • War Risk and Governmental Authority and Civil Commotion Exclusion.
  • Nuclear Exclusion
  • Infidelity Exclusion
  • Dishonest Acts
